A memorial funeral service for Carl B. “Sonny” Gattis will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Waldo Funeral Home. Tim Easley of Trinity Fellowship Church will officiate. Mr. Gattis passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Bonham V.A. Hospital. He was 74.

Carl was born January 14, 1936 in Sherman, TX to Carl Alton and Beatrice (Lanier) Gattis. He graduated from Denison High School and attended Business College for two years. He served as a fireman in the US Air Force from 1954 until 1958. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the US Corp of Engineers as a fireman until his retirement. He married Jimmie Nevil on February 20, 1960 in Denison, TX.

He is survived by his wife Jimmie, daughters DeeAnn Easley of Canute OK and Brenda Lee Winter of Austin, TX, brother-in-law Dick Richardson of Denison, TX, grandchildren Kyle Easley, Kyra Meekins, Tina Jones and Roy Easley, 8 great-grand children, cousin Paul Pitt and brother-in-laws Bud Nevil, Dwight Nevil and Garland Nevil. He is also survived by his friends at the Scott Circle Senior Citizens Center.
