Melvin Pee Wee Clements
Sherman- Funeral services for Melvin Cecil Clements will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday July 27 at West Sherman Baptist Church. Rev. Danny Wood of the church will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Moore Cemetery in Arlington, Texas. Chandler Strawn, Sam Whitley, Ricky Slaughter, Christopher Carrell, Gene Word, and Phillip Hollingsworth will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Clements, 94, passed away Friday July 23 in the Texas Healthcare Presbyterian-WNJ Medical Center.
Melvin was born April 27, 1916 in Gunter, Texas to the late George and Stella (Spoonts) Clements. He attended Sperry schools and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1935 where he participated in baseball and basketball. Pee Wee served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945. On November 7, 1945 he and Winona Clements were married. They were married over 59 years when she passed away in January 2005. Pee Wee worked for General Dynamics in Fort Worth from 1946 to 1984. He enjoyed farming, woodworking, and tinkering in his shop. He was a member of the West Sherman Baptist Church.
Mr. Clements is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Knowles of Godley, Texas and Edith Wilsford of Bryan, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
