Funeral Services for Evelyn Opel Blount, 89 year old, Sherman resident will be held at 10 am Thursday, April 28, in the Chapel of Waldo Funeral Home. Opel Passed from this life Sunday, April 24.

Officiating the Funeral will be Father Merlito Abiog, of St Mary's Catholic Church.

The family will receive friends from 9 am to 10 am, Thursday, at Waldo Funeral Home, prior to the service.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sherman.

Opel was born January 14, 1933 in Sherman, Texas. She was the daughter of David Cole and Evelyn (Opel) Hash. She was a 1951 graduate of Sherman High School.

She married David Blount, January 28, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. They were married until his death in 2013.

Opel was an X-ray technician for Dr. Theodore "TJ" Lewis for many years until her retirement.

She loved to travel and she, along with her husband, David had traveled much of the world.

She could be counted on to donate money to charities, much of which was donated to the Choctaw Indian Nation of Oklahoma though their casino operations.

Opel most enjoyed spending time with her family, which she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; son in law, Jerry Lancaster; and 4 siblings.

Surviving are daughter, Sharon Eilrich and her husband, Brad, of Gunter; son, Larry Blount and his wife, Julie, of Denison; daughter, Cindy Lancaster of Sulphur Springs; sister, Frances Bivins of Sachse, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-granchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the service will be Kyle Roberts, David Wayne Blount, Cole Lancaster, Cody Eilrich, Jason Coley, Brenton Neasbitt, John Gerber and Ryan Golden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donors favorite charity.
