Norma June Bergman McWhorter – Sherman, Texas
Norma June Bergman McWhorter was born on March 22, 1932 in Santa Rosa Texas, the youngest of 3 children born to Henry and Sylvia Bergman,
She grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, but her family enjoyed vacationing around the U.S. She came to the Lord at 9 after a terrible car accident. The Lord then, also gave her the calling to go into nursing. She followed that calling her whole life, retiring from Wilson N. Jones Hospital.
She was a true servant, helping family and loved to volunteer at the Share Ministry (formerly Down Town Chapel). Norma loved traveling and adventure, living in or visiting every state of the union as well as 6 continents, including a mission trip to Africa when she was 76 years old. She was artistic, painting and crocheting many things for family and friends. She loved Jesus with all her heart. She loved her church, family and country, praying for them all.
Norma was preceded in death by her Mother and Father;Husband G.H. Mcwhorter, sister Connie Jones and brothers, Henry Bergman, Oren and John McWhorter. She is survived by her sisters Dorothy Lane, June Peterson, Sue and Juanita McWhorter. Her children, Tricia and David Shelley, Wade and Erick McWhorter, Sharon and Chris Sakowski. Her grand and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Cammy Shelley; Jennfer and Austin Martin and Alex Fleming; Christina, Jacob, Sawyer and Wyatt Davis; Robbie , Christy, Nichole, Iris, Raphael, Isaac and Gemma Sakowski, Hannah, James and James Hudson Livingstone; Katie Sakowski; Clara and Tyler Bentley; Michael Sakowski and Catalina Hicks. She is also survived by 20 nephews, nieces and their children whom she loved dearly.
The Life Celebration service will be held at Fairview Baptist Church on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm. It will be followed immediately by a graveside service at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations to the Share Ministry are welcome in lieu of Flowers. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas
