After her mother became ill she stopped working to become her full-time caregiver until she passed away. She then went back to nursing as a home Health nurse until she became ill.

Ann married J.R. Branough and was married to him until he passed away. She had four children, Jon, Kimberly, Laura and Rex.

Ann  was always sweet and kind to others and gave of her time and wisdom to help those in need whenever she could.  She loved all kinds of music but especially Gospel music, Country and Western, Celine Dion. She was also a big Dallas Cowboys fan.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Ida Mae, her husband, J.R., her son Rex Allen Branough, brothers and sisters, Joe B. Smith, Leon Smith, Jr., Napoleon Smith, Buster Smith and Douglas Smith, Lula Mae Henson, Wilma Jean Boyd, Jimmie Lee Perry,  and Virgie Mae Morrison.
