Graveside Services for Albert, age 77, will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 1 p.m. at West Hill Cemetery. Albert passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024 lovingly surrounded by family.
He was born June 18, 1947, the son of E. Y. Welch and Annie "Mildred" Sims Welch. Albert married Margaret Baze Welch on December 16, 1966, at Southmayd Baptist Church.
Albert graduated from Grayson County College in 1967 while working full time at Anderson Clayton Foods in Sherman and Dallas. He continued his education and career while raising his family in McKinney and graduated from UTD in 1985. Although the company changed ownership (Kraft Foods and AGP,) most of his career was spent at the same plant as a plant controller. Upon the closing of AGP, Albert went to work for Sherman Wire where he retired.
Albert was a devout Christian, devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather. He loved camping, fishing, riding dirt bikes, and especially pulling his grandkids all across the lake. He loved his church and church family at West Sherman Baptist Church where he was a member for over thirty years.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Jeanne "Doby" Taylor and Iris "Annette" Bridges.
Albert is survived by his wife, Margaret, son Albert "Mark" Welch and his wife Laura of Pattonville, daughter Jackie Welch Shaffer and her husband Clint of Era, grandsons Matthew and Carter, granddaughters Andrea (Corey,) Kaylee, Shelby (Justin,) Kirsten (Adam,) and Anna, and great-grandsons Jettson and Jaxston, brothers Robert (Barbara,) Stanley (Martha,) Charles (Debbie,) sister-in-laws Martha Baze, Letha Baze, brother-in-law Charles Bridges and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Welch, Carter Shaffer, Roger Welch, Jason Welch, Darin Welch, Ryan Bridges.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Tammy Roque, Dr. Rohan Jeyarahah, and Dr. Travis Van Meter for their loving care and relentless treatment efforts.
Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends at Waldo Funeral Home on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.
