Alejandro "Alex" R. Garcia, Sr.'s Obituary

Alejandro "Alex" R. Garcia, Sr. passed away peacefully at an Assisted Living Center in Denison on March 3rd, 2015 at the age of 83.
Alex was born in Berclair, Texas on February 14th, 1932. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and Honorably Discharged in 1954. Alex married his wife, Mary, in Beeville, Texas on January 17th, 1955. He went on to work at the Naval Air Base in Corpus Christi and then at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio for a total of 36 years. He worked as a Jet Engine Mechanic and completed his career as a Jet Engine Mechanic Foreman. He was very proud of having worked on engines used on the B-17 and B-52's, the TF-34 used on the A-10 and J-57-21A jet engine used on the F-100 fighter aircraft. He dedicated long countless hours at Kelly AFB due to the high demand of aircraft by the Viet Nam war. Alex enjoyed spending time with his wife, family, and the outdoors. He enjoyed playing baseball and softball with friends and co-workers, a good barbeque with a cold beer and watching the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and San Antonio Spurs.
Alex is predeceased by his parents, Tomas R. and Gertrudez R. Garcia, and his three brothers and three sisters.
Alex is survived by his loving wife, Mary H. Garcia, of 60 years. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Trudy Ruiz (Arnie) of Sherman, TX, Alex H. Garcia, Jr. (Elsa) of Houston, TX, and Ruby McLellan (Neil) of Houston, TX, his 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Rosary Services will be recited beginning at 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 8th, at Waldo Funeral Home chapel, with visitation until 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 9th, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Father Jeremy Myers and Concelebrant will be Father Antonio Aureus.
Committal services will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 10th, at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
The Garcia family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Nanaws Place Assisted Living in Denison for all their care, love and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 727 S. Travis St. Sherman, TX 75090.
