Obituary

Amy Joyce Simpson was born November 22, 1960 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Clarence and Joyce Staley. God wrapped his arms around Amy and carried her to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 13, 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Amy attended Greenville High School and then completed her senior year at Lafayette High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. After graduation, she worked at various Optical Centers in surrounding areas of Texas and ended her working career at Trailblazers in Denison, Texas.
She will be remembered for her compassion for others, her loving attitude, her generosity, her enthusiasm for life and her love for the Lord. She was a former member of Lakeway Methodist Church in Pottsboro, Texas before she moved to Sherman, at which time she transferred her membership to Grace United Methodist Church in Sherman.
She braked often for garage sales or thrift stores and loved shopping or short trips with her sisters and Mom, especially when they would find a new hat for her to sport around town and to church.
Her children, family and friends were the "real loves of her life" and spending time with them and at church on Sunday mornings brought her the most pleasure.
Another joy was always helping others. Before her health declined, you could find her volunteering often at Journey to Healing Cancer Retreat or Share, Taking it to the Streets or Seek Camp. She also participated at most of the local Relay for Life fundraisers with her sister Carol and other family and friends by her side for support.
She is survived by two daughters, Samantha and MaKenzy Simpson of Pottsboro; brother, Al Staley and wife Sandy of Pottsboro; brother, Doug Staley and wife Debbie of Frisco; sister, Carol Davis and husband John of Sherman; sister, Claudia Argumaniz and husband Joe of Greenville and mother, Joyce Staley of Greenville, Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Milton Staley of Greenville, Texas and grandparents, Emmett and Verdie Noles of Bossier City, Louisiana.
A memorial service to celebrate Amy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20th at Grace United Methodist Church located at 2800 Canyon Creek Drive in Sherman under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. The register book may be signed online at www.waldofuneralhome.com.
