IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrew Daniel
Mitcheltree
April 18, 1944 – October 22, 2025
Andrew Daniel Mitcheltree, 81, of Gordonville, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on October 22, 2025, with his loving wife of 59 years, Cathy, by his side.
Born in Dallas, Texas, Andrew proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy aboard the USS Forrestal. Andrew's service on the USS Forrestal shaped much of his character, instilling in him a deep sense of discipline and dedication to those he loved. He retired from American Airlines after 32 years as crew chief for facilities maintenance. A man of deep faith, he was a devoted member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Whitesboro, Texas, where he found strength, friendship, and community.
Andrew was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, golfing, and cooking. His award-winning BBQ recipe earned him many trophies through the years. He had a kind heart, a gentle spirit, and a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to everyone around him. Andrew will be remembered most for the love and laughter he shared with his family and the steady strength he provided to those he cared for. One of his happiest memories was spent in "Tightwad" Texas with his many cousins. Knowing that Mom Mil, Pop Mitch, and the three boys are together again brings comfort to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Ragena (Howard) Mitcheltree, and their three children, Michael and his wife, Tammy; Michelle; and Matthew and his wife, Jennifer. He was a proud grandfather to Michael, Haley, and Mason, who were the light of his life. He always enjoyed attending the games and activities that they were each active in, always eager to support them in everything they were involved in.
A Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Whitesboro, Texas. A private graveside service will follow at Rosston Cemetery, with a celebration of life afterward at the Community Center.
Andrew's life was defined by faith, family, and integrity. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love and example will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
