Obituary

Ann Webster of Sherman, Texas peacefully passed away on January 21, 2024.

Ann was born in Vernon, Alabama on November 7, 1931. She was the sixth of eight children born to Burris Cowart and Lillian Moore Cowart. Ann attended school in Vernon, Alabama.

Following her education, she worked as a seamstress and in a local pharmacy's soda and ice cream shop. One evening, while eating hamburgers and drinking ice cream shakes with friends in nearby Winfield, Alabama, Ann caught the eye of Van Webster, Jr. They began dating and were soulfully married on May 16, 1955 in Columbus, Mississippi and started their married life in Chicago, Illinois where Ann worked at Motorola while Van pursued his education. Eventually, they moved back to Alabama. A few joyful years later, they found themselves transferred with Van's work to Sherman, Texas where Ann was a stay-at-home mother to her two daughters.

Ann was a member of First Baptist Church of Sherman, Texas. She enjoyed baking for others, sewing, and joining friends for antique hunting adventures at various locations around the state of Texas. Most of all, Ann enjoyed laughter and seeing joy in the eyes of others.

A funeral service will be held for Ann at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas on Monday, January 29, 2024. Visitation will begin at 1PM, and the service will begin at 2PM. A brief graveside service at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas will take place following the service at Waldo Funeral Home. Ann has always loved flowers, but charitable donations in lieu of flowers to The Alzheimer's Association of Greater Dallas and Northeast Texas are greatly appreciated.

Ann is survived by her daughter Donna Webster VanHooser (Terry VanHooser, husband) of Sherman, Texas, her daughter Susan Webster of Denison Texas, grandson Nicholas Chapman (Meranda Booher Chapman, wife) of Denison, Texas, grandson Ryan Chapman (Holly Meeks Chapman, wife) of Sachse, Texas, great grand-daughters Layla and Rylee Chapman (daughters of Ryan and Holly Chapman), brother Tom Cowart (Dean Cowart, wife) of Vernon, Alabama, sister Marlene Boykin of Sylacauga, Alabama, and many nieces and nephews.
