Obituary

Barbara Ann Beago Connally, a passionate servant of Christ, passed away Monday, July 15, at 9:08 AM. Barbara was born in Spring Branch, Texas, on September 19, 1949, to Kathern Merritt. As the oldest sibling, she helped her mother care for Grandma Romaire, her young sister Kathy, and her young brothers Donald, Ronald, and David.

She met her husband, James Connally, at the first McDonald's drive-in in Houston, Texas.  She loved to wear ribbons in her long blonde hair; on this day, she had a yellow ribbon in her hair.  James and Barbara were married on June 8, 1968, in Houston, Texas, and had their honeymoon in New Orleans.  Their life together was filled with love and laughter, and the Spirit of the Lord always led their journey. In October 1972, their family began with the birth of their son, Randall Connally, and then their daughter, Michelle Connally Bentley, in December 1974.   Her family was completed with the addition of her Daughter-in-law Alison Connally, son-in-law Jason Bentley, and Grandchildren Will Connally and Caitlin Bentley. She loved animals, especially her Yorkshire Terriers Sarah, Tyler, Bella, and Emma, along with Rusty, General, Coco, and Abigail, with grand dogs Coconut, ROTC, and Callie.

Barbara's day always began with reading the Bible and prayer time, a testament to her unwavering faith. She was a graceful and beautiful woman with great style and charisma who made everyone feel like family. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she would give anything she had to help another.  She was always ready to provide wisdom from the Bible in times of need.

Barbara is preceded in death by her Mother, Kathern Merritt, her Sister, Kathryn Penney, and her Brother, Donald Merritt.

Barbara is survived by her husband, James Connally; their children, Randall and wife, Allison Connally; Michelle and husband, Jason Bentley; and Grandchildren, Will Connally and Caitlin Bentley—Brothers Ronald Merritt and David Merritt and Barbara's Aunt Lucy LaPaglia.
