Barbara A. Carter, age 64, of Sherman, TX passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Homestead of Sherman. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
Barbara Anita (Davis) Carter was born on September 13, 1950 to H.A. Davis, Jr. and Itaska Tucker Davis in Sherman, TX. She received her early education in Southmayd, but graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1968. Barbara married Jimmy Green in 1972 and to this union was born Alana Kay (Green). Barbara attended and received an Associates of Nursing degree from Grayson College. Her love for people was her passion for helping others, but most of all she loved her grandchildren, Madison and Kade.
Barbara's nursing career went from a floor nurse at Wilson N. Jones Hospital to ICU and later a hospice nurse for Home Hospice of Grayson County.
She is survived by her one daughter, Alana Mathis and husband Denny and her three grandchildren, Lindsay, Madison and Kade. Barbara is also survived by her special friends, Jo Ann Bell, Jean Henry, Marianne Daniels and LaVerle Mathis.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bobby Alan Davis.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.
