Barbara June (Neathery) Washburn, 88, of Pottsboro, Texas, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Monday, October 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 17, 1937, to Roy Homer and Vee Shreve Ball Neathery of Whitewright, Texas. June lived a life marked by devotion—to God and to her family.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Reburn Washburn who stood by her side faithfully through every season of life. Ken and June (Ken & Barbie) were married on July 7, 2007 after both had been widowed in a previous marriage.
Her children Karl Louis and his wife Glenna of Paris, Texas, Kathy Bennett and her husband Robert of McKinney, Texas, Alan Louis and his wife Theresa, of Keene, Texas, and Terry Louis, of Denison, Texas.
Stepchildren: Sondra Lovett and husband Brad of Richland Hills, Texas, Carol Williamson of Durant, OK, Pam and husband Randy Crossman of Durant, OK and Marcia Marlow of Avon, IN.
She is also survived by one brother, Jack Neathery and sister Linda Neathery Knorpp, along with ten Grandchildren, and numerous Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
June was the sixth child in a family of ten children. She was preceded in death by her parents; Roy Homer Neathery, Vee Neathery, and brothers and sisters: Mattie Louise Neathery Heed, Maurice Roy Neathery, Robert Byron Neathery, Anna Bess Neathery Robinson, Marjorie Vee Neathery Grimes, Martha Jane Neathery Bearden and Brynda Maye Neathery Clay.
June graduated from Whitewright High School in 1955 and soon after went to work for Sears & Roebuck in Dallas. She worked the majority of her career with GMAC. She retired at the age of 55 to live out her dream retirement overlooking the lake in Texoma.
June loved her Church family at Park Avenue Church of Christ, and more than anything spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved to cook for them and host family gatherings where she could serve, and make sure everyone had a wonderful time. Hers was the home where everyone felt welcome and wanted to be.
A celebration of June's life will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. The location is Waldo Funeral Home, 619 N. Travis St, Sherman Texas 75090. Service will be conducted by Todd Catteau of Park Avenue Church of Christ, Denison Texas.
