Bernita Scruggs was born October 2, 1945, in Sherman, TX to the late Willie and Joanna Lowell.  Bernita attended Fred Douglas High School and achieved a General Educational Degree.  She was married to Goodson Scruggs and was a devoted mother to her three children.  Bernita worked in the community for over 25 years as a certified nursing assistant.  She was dedicated to her work at Harmony Baptist Church and was the director of the food bank.

Bernita is survived by her children, Kelvin, Cynthia and Marlon Scruggs; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Scruggs and Susan Scruggs; siblings Robert Lowell, Cecila Boyd, Gary Lowell and Terry Tate; grandchildren, Marcus Scruggs, Blake Harris, Caryla Anderson and Ethan Scruggs; and a niece.

Bernita Lowell Scruggs, age 77, of Sherman ascended to her eternal home Monday, April 10 ^th at Texoma Medical Center.

A public visitation will be on Friday, April 14 ^th from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Saturday, April 15 ^th at 11 A.M. at Harmony Baptist Church, 2111 E. Tuck St., Sherman.  Rev. Clifton Eaton will officiate; burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
