IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beverly Jan
Rushing
November 6, 1947 – May 21, 2025
Beverly Jan (Raschke) Rushing, 77, of Denison, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, in Sherman, Texas. Born November 6, 1947, in Electra, Texas, she was widely known for her sweet nature and caring spirit, brightening the lives of all who knew her.
Jan, as she was lovingly referred to, graduated from Electra High School in 1966. Her youthful charm did not go unnoticed, as her classmates honored her as Class Beauty during her freshman and junior years.
In her early years, Jan exhibited great strength and adaptability; while her husband served in Vietnam, she gave birth to their beloved daughter, Raymie. Upon his return, the young family embarked on an adventurous journey, moving 33 times before finally making a permanent home in Denison, Texas. It was there that they established Rushing Paving, a successful business built upon hard work and determination.
Friendly and warm-hearted, Jan held multiple roles over the years that allowed her to connect with her community. She worked at Hughes Middle School in Denison, served clients as a consultant with BeautiControl cosmetics—sharing her passion for beauty and skincare—and enjoyed her part-time position at Lena's clothing boutique.
Her proudest and most cherished role, however, was as "Gigi" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jan adored her family, always making a special effort to attend every event, proudly celebrating each milestone. Her greatest joy was laughing, singing, playing games, dancing, and simply basking in the love and warmth of gatherings with family and friends.
Jan was happiest when tending to her garden, nurturing flowers, and enjoying the outdoors. A talented shopper known for her enthusiasm in discovering a great deal, she brought joy and smiles wherever she went.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Raymie Barker and husband, Ray. Along with her beloved grandchildren, Darby Nichols and husband Hunter, Dakota Hunter, Garrett Hunter, Hadlie Hunter, Reilly Barker, Noah Barker, and great-grandchildren Ellyson, Dawsyn, Rowan and Lennon Nichols. She is also survived by her sister, Cynthia Marrs of Llano, Texas and brother Michael Harper and wife, Bethany of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey Elmer Raschke, Cleo and Glenn Harper, Grandparents Otto and Minnie Raschke, Emmitt and Josie Lena (McKinney) Rodgers, and Ray and Beulah (O'Dell) Harper.
Though she will be deeply missed, her kindness, compassion, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.
