Obituary

Billie Isom, born on July 1, 1937, in Unicoi, Tennessee to Harry Mansel Peterson and Lula Mae (Gillis) Peterson, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026.  Throughout her 88 years, Billie lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community.

Billie pursued her passion early on by attending beauty school, where she trained and skillfully built her career as a hairdresser. Her professional life reflected the nurturing spirit that those close to her cherished, as she brought beauty and confidence to countless individuals.

As a loving and devoted mother, Billie was the cornerstone of her family. She was the cherished mother of five children: Aileen Williams and Paul, Wanda Fisher, Phillip Dennis and his wife Sandy, and Keith Dennis and his wife Kathy. Her legacy extended beyond them to embrace 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and an astounding 41 great-great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved and respected by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who benefitted from her generous and warm nature.

Billie's compassion was evident in every aspect of her life. She was deeply committed to her faith and a longtime member of the Trinity Lighthouse Church in Denison, where her presence and spirit touched many. Her home was always open, filled with the laughter and joy of family gatherings that she treasured above all.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harry Mansel Peterson and Lula Mae Gillis Peterson, her devoted husband Gene Isom, her daughter Karen Glenn, two grandchildren, Don Williams Jr. and Chris Fisher, sister Vivian Grimes and husband Johnny as well as her son in law, Parris Fisher. Their memory lives on in her heart and the hearts of all who knew her.

A graveside service honoring Billie’s life will be held on June 2, 2026,at 2:00 PM at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, TX 75090. Family, friends, and all who were touched by Billie’s extraordinary kindness are invited to celebrate her remarkable life and legacy.

Billie Isom leaves behind a memory of unwavering love, boundless generosity, and a spirit that will forever inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. Her warmth and devotion remain a beacon for her family and community, ensuring that her remarkable life continues to influence generations to come.
