August 5, 1941 – November 16, 2024
Bobby Carlisle went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 16 after a long battle with lung disease. He was born August 5, 1941 in Littlefield Texas to Paul Carlisle and Vera McCain Carlisle. He grew up in Littlefield and later Goodland TX on a cotton farm. He was saved and baptized at age 12. He graduated from Bula High in 1959, attended Hardin Simmons University for 1 year and then returned to the farm to help his dad. He met his lifelong companion and best friend Dorothy Tucker at Maple Baptist Church where they married in 1962. Bob joined the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict and proudly served 4 years. They moved to Sherman in 1970 and in 1976, he graduated barber school and barbered in Sherman until retirement in 2015.
He loved baseball and was a dedicated coach and mentor while his sons were growing up. Later he enjoyed watching his grandson, Tucker, play baseball and went to every single game across North Texas and even went as far as Cooperstown, NY to watch him play. He also loved watching his great nephews, Zachary and Matthew, who he loved as his own grandsons, play baseball and soccer. When he wasn't watching them play sports, he was taking all 3 boys fishing as often as he could.
He loved singing and music, especially Bluegrass Music. He was in several Bluegrass bands over the years, New County Line being the most recent.
He was a beloved husband, dad, Pappaw, uncle, brother, Pawpaw Bob, friend, barber, mentor, and baseball coach. He loved the Lord, his family and all is friends.
From the time he was saved, he dedicated his life to the Lord and making sure his family was saved and followers of Christ. Fairview Baptist and his church family were so important and special to him. He loved the sermons and the music and never missed either. Even when he couldn't be there to enjoy it in person, he watched online every Sunday.
His patriotism ran deep. He always prayed for his country and proudly flew the flag every day.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dorothy, his two sons, Lane Carlisle of Sherman and Jason Carlisle (Lori) of Van Alstyne, 2 grandkids, Morgan Clarke of Van Alstyne and Tucker Carlisle of Van Alstyne, one brother, Nelson Carlisle (Nancy) of Littlefield, one sister, Ginger Bradshaw of New Braunfels, one special brother-in-law, John Tucker, nephews, Keith Carlisle (Cindy), Karl Carlisle (Anne Ray), Dennis Carlisle, Chris Johnson (Dana), nieces, Jackie Zahn(Kendon), Julie Layton (Keith), Lori Stutler (Doug), and great-nephews, Zachary Carlisle and Matthew Carlisle.
Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother, Paul and Vera Carlisle, brother, Curtis Carlisle, brother-in-law, Butch Tucker, nephew, Craig Johnson and niece, Sheila Comer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Home Hospice of Grayson County or Fairview Baptist Church Missions Fund.
