Dale Cathey
November 30, 1934 – January 5, 2025
Bob passed away peacefully Sunday, January 5, 2025 at the age of 90, lovingly surrounded by family. Bob was born November 30, 1934, the son of James A. Cathey and Bessie Cornelius Cathey. He graduated from Carrolton High school and got his Bachelor of Business Administration from East Texas University which is now known as Texas A&M Commerce. He worked at Johnson & Johnson for 40 years and it was the only job he ever had until retirement. Following retirement he was a real estate broker. Bob served on the Sherman School board from 1973 to 1979 and served as President of the board in 1978. Bob served in the Army as Staff Sergeant from 1954 until 1956. On March 29, 1957, Bob married the love of his life Patricia Cathey, who preceded him in death in 2022.Bob was also a deacon at Parkview Church of Christ for 30 years and a chairman of Grayson County Wide Drug Awareness Program in the 1970s. He was also a founding member of Dewey Avenue Church of Christ. Some of his hobbies included playing golf, tennis, and basketball.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patsy, son Kevin and his wife Tiffany, and his two older brothers, Jim Cathey and Bill Cathey.
He is survived by his daughter Leslie, son Brian (Cindy), grandchildren Jessie (Anthony) Garret (Montana), Brittani (Phil), and Caleb. Great grandchildren, Ellie, Everson, Hollis and Harlan, and Remington.
Pallbearers will be Garret Cathey, Caleb Cathey, Phillip Hatter, Anthony Horne, Mark Cathey, Tim Cathey.
The family will receive friends at Waldo Funeral Home Friday, January 10, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral Services are Saturday January 11, 2025 at Western Heights Church of Christ at 2 p.m. Danny Hawk will officiate. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
