Obituary

Brenda LaVern Springfield was born on September 23, 1943, in Colbert, Oklahoma to the Parents of Lawrence E.Kemp and Bernice Kemp.  Brenda attended Langston School and graduated from Terrell High School in 1962.

After marrying her husband, Cornell, she moved to Chester, PA in 1964, where she worked on the production line at Scott Paper Company for several years, before moving back to Denison with her family in 1972.

Brenda first worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, Barret's and as a nurse aide at Texoma Medical Center in the Outpatient Surgery Department.

Brenda was a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church, serving on the Deaconess Board, Mission board and singing with joy in the church choir, until moving to Arlington, TX where she became a member of St. John Baptist Church becoming involved with The Hope Center.

Brenda transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 16th at her son's residence in Fayetteville, N.C.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence, (Bill) and Bernice, (Mickey) Kemp, husband, Cornell J. Springfield III, son, Craig Springfield, sisters,  Patricia Kemp and Joetta Mundine, and brothers Delton and Melton Kemp. Brenda is survived by sisters Carolyn Watson and Alicia Kemp and brother Thomas (Tonya) Kemp, sons Cornell, Brian (Beatrice) and Brent Springfield (Misti) and daughter Candice Springfield-Williams.

Brenda is also survived by two grandsons, Darian and Brendon, five granddaughters, Dara, Brilee, Madelynne, Genevieve and Sydni, and one great granddaughter, Cataleya.

Brenda, known to many as Vern, never met a stranger in her life-time.  When things made her happy, she would always express with a high-pitched, ooooooooo.   Her smile was infectious and her hugs were everlasting.

Brenda leaves us as a faithful servant to our Lord Jesus Christ and she will be missed by her family and friends. Celebrate your memories of her.
