Obituary

Brenda Wheeler, beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated church member, was called to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully at her home on March 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was 80 years old.

Brenda was born on February 4, 1944, in Copeville, Texas. She grew up in Sherman, Texas and was a 1962 graduate of Sherman High School. She exemplified the true spirit of compassion and generosity throughout her life, and is always described as the life of the party by her many friends.

As a devoted mother, Brenda poured her love and wisdom into her children, shaping them to be dedicated and kind people. Her warmth and nurturing nature created a home filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.

Brenda's role as a grandmother brought her immense joy and fulfillment. She adored her grandchildren and relished every moment spent with them, whether it was watching them play volleyball, baseball or performing in various choir, band, or musical theater programs. Anyone who knew her knows how proud she was of her grandchildren.

Her dedication to her faith was evident in her tireless commitment to her church community. For many years, Brenda served as a church and school volunteer, selflessly giving her time and energy to various activities and initiatives. Her unwavering faith inspired all who knew her and left a lasting impact on the congregation.

In addition to her family and church, Brenda was known for her gentle spirit, her infectious laugh, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. Her genuine kindness touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving a legacy of love and compassion that will last for years to come.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Dorothy Norman. Brenda is survived by her husband Jerry Wheeler, son Norman Wheeler and wife D'nese Wheeler, daughter Shannon Worthy and husband Kevin Worthy,  granddaughter Cameron Croom and husband Tanner Croom and grandson, Carson Worthy.

Brenda will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Although she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched and the enduring memories she leaves behind.

A visitation will be held at Waldo Funeral home on March 18th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  A celebration of Brenda's life will be held Tuesday, March 19 at the First Baptist Church in Luella Texas, at 10:00 am where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church's building program, in honor of Brenda's lifelong dedication to serving others.  Donations can be sent to First Baptist Luella at 3162 TX Hwy-11, Sherman, TX 75090.
