Brian Usrey was born on Friday, June 12, 1959 in Sherman, Texas to James and Wanda (Watson) Usrey and passed from this life on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the age of 55 surrounded by his family.
Brian was raised in Howe and was considered the fastest runner in the state of Texas at his age. He was a graduate of Howe Public Schools. He later worked for Tom Thumb, Safeway, and Kroger food stores for many years. His last employment was with Progress Rail Services and worked as a machine operator. Brian attended the Bethel Baptist Church in Howe. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being with family.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandfather, Marvin Ray Watson; grandmother, Lillie Usrey; and aunt, Myrina Simpson.
He is survived by his parents, James and Wanda Usrey of Sherman; grandmother, Lucille Watson of Sherman; son, Matthew Usrey and his wife, Kimberly of Wisconsin; brothers, Roger Usrey of Boswell, Oklahoma, and Roy Usrey and his wife, Tammi of Celina, Texas; grandchildren, Alexis, Danyel, Brian, and Cayden Usrey; 5 nephews, 2 nieces, 2 great-nephews, and 2 great-nieces.
A Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, Oct. 2, at Waldo Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, Oct. 3, at Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Buddy Garland and Steve Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Akers Cemetery with Matthew Usrey, Fabian Usrey, Jesse Owens, Mike Edwards, Brian Jeter and Craig Ferguson serving as pallbearers.
