Obituary

A celebration of life for Bruce Wayne Purdom, 57, of Whitewright, Texas will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 11:00 am at the Church of Christ in Whitewright. Bruce was born February 21, 1967 in Sherman, Texas and passed away on April 29, 2024. He was a fun and loving father and proud to be a lifelong Whitewright Tiger.


He is survived by his wife Kelly Purdom. Bruce leaves behind his two sons Marshall Purdom and Tyler Purdom, and their mother Vicki Purdom. He also leaves behind his is stepsons Ross (wife Brea) Cook, and Mason Mobly, his parents Bob and June Gail Purdom; brother, Bobby Dale Purdom; two nephews Brad Purdom, Chad Purdom, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ralph and Lorene Bond and Riley and Dude Purdom.


Bruce graduated from Whitewright High School in 1985 and attended Grayson College. He worked at A&F Manufacturing, Tiger Ridge, and most recently, he was a business partner with Charlie Copeland at C. Copeland Enterprises.


Bruce was a Christian and loved the Lord. He also loved wild animals and would often sit and observe and photograph them in  his yard.  He also had a game camera in his yard to capture images of the wildlife that visited his home. He was even known to stop on the road and take pictures of animals he saw. He often shared the pictures with those he knew. Bruce had a passion for Red Dirt country music and enjoyed sharing songs with everyone. He was an avid knife collector and had a large collection of interesting knives. Bruce was also a great story teller; he loved to gather with his friends and family to tell funny stories and entertain those he loved with tales from the past.
