Funeral services for Calvin Vance Haworth, 88, of Sherman, TX will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 27, 2008 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Tim Kerrick will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the West Hill Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.

Vance was born on January 24, 1920 the son of William Calvin and Elizabeth Ann Cundiff Haworth. Vance served in the United States Army from January 1942 until October 1945. He then married Doris Jo Wilson on December 18, 1946. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2007. Vance worked for Atlantic Richfield Oil Company until his retirement. He was a Mason and he has been a member of the Howe Masonic Lodge since 1946.

Vance is survived by his son Calvin Edward Haworth and wife Cindy of Carrollton, TX, daughter Loava McCarthy and husband Ray of Howe, TX, five grandsons, Chad Haworth, Larry McCarthy, Curt Haworth, Ian McCarthy and Christian Haworth, one granddaughter Katherine Bruton, six great grandsons, Coley McCarthy, Dalton DeLeon, Drake Bruton, Moses Bruton, Ethan McCarthy and Lane Haworth and one great granddaughter Brooke Haworth. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter Leisha McCarthy and three brothers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.
