Carla Jane Blackburn Wright (Lala), 62, of Whitewright, Texas passed away at the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Dallas, Texas surrounded by her loved ones. Carla was a steward of Jesus who completed her earthly work on October 20, 2022. Carla was born in Cotton Center, Texas on February 15, 1960. She is the daughter of Donald Joe Blackburn, Lois Mae Minchey Sims, and her stepfather, Charles 'Chuck' D. Sims of Pottsboro, Texas. Carla was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Melody Blackburn.

Carla is survived by her husband, Dale Wright of 45 years, her 3 sons: Barry Wright and wife, Megan, of Bells, Texas, Aaron Wright and wife, April of Clayton, Oklahoma, Adrien Wright, and wife, Jennifer of Gainesville, Texas. Carla's six grandchildren: Bryton, Austyn, Addyson, Bryson, Aryzona, and Axton Wright. Carla's four siblings, Pam Blackburn and fiance' Mike Tillinghast, of Poetry, Texas, Doug Blackburn and wife, Cindy, of Bells, Texas, Darrell Blackburn and wife, Wendy of Leonard, Texas, and Christi Williams of Denison, Texas. Carla has also left behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends that she thought of as family.

Carla and Dale were married on August 12, 1977, at the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Leonard, Texas. Carla studied nursing at Grayson County College in Denison, Texas, and graduated in 1989, and was able to serve as a nurse for many years.

During Carla and Dale's 45 years of marriage, Carla and Dale created a life that impacted so many others. Carla and Dale raised 3 wonderful boys, had a hand in raising their kids' friends, neighborhood kids and their friends, nieces, nephews, and anyone else who needed a little bit of extra love.

Every day of Carla's 62 years of life was spent helping others, whether she was trying to get a baby to sleep, fixing a meal, planning a party, doctoring someone up, braiding hair, or just cheering them on at their activity. Carla Jane was a selfless woman who was able to show up for so many people in their time of need. Carla dedicated her life to her family and her friends and did whatever she could to help anyone. During her time on Earth, Carla enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family. The happiest days of Carla's life was on Sunday when anyone and everyone came for her famous Sunday Suppers.

Carla was immensely grateful for her time spent here, but her family is even more grateful for her new journey with Jesus. Carla lived a beautiful life and impacted so many others. Carla is well loved by her friends, family, and church family at the PromiseLand Church in Sherman, Texas, where she worshiped.

Family night will be held at the PromiseLand Church in Sherman, Texas on Sunday, October 23, 2022, from 6-8 PM; and the funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the church with burial immediately following at the Leonard Cemetery in Leonard, Texas.
