IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn Jean
Diercks
September 11, 1956 – December 26, 2023
Carolyn Jean Diercks, 67, passed away on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023 at her home in Sherman, Texas.
Carolyn was born on September 11th, 1956 in Sherman, Texas as the youngest of four children. Her father, Herb Diercks was a fighter test pilot in the U.S. Air Force, and her mother, Gail Diercks, was a homemaker. Growing up, the family joined their father on his various military postings which allowed Carolyn to experience time living in Fukuoka, Japan; Dayton, Ohio; and Ft. Walton, Florida.
After high school, Carolyn served in the U.S. Air Force from 1975 to 1979 and worked as an Avionics Sensor Systems Specialist. As part of a newly implemented program during her tenure, Carolyn was proud to become one of the first women to work in fiber optics on aircrafts. After completing her military service, she went on to pursue a 22-year long career as a Flight Attendant with Southwest Airlines primarily based out of Dallas Love Field. She found this to be a very rewarding career with an amazing company.
Carolyn was also a mother to four children -- Elizabeth, Katherine, Jake, and Justin -- who she loved deeply and considered them her greatest accomplishment. She adored her four grandchildren -- Mark, Lee, Luna, and James -- and loved opportunities to make them happy. Her other hobbies included gardening, completing puzzles, watching her favorite shows, and collecting antique items. Carolyn was a very caring person and enjoyed connecting with people she met. She will be missed by many.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Bucknor and husband, Charles; daughter, Katherine Crouch; son, Clifford Crouch; son, Justin Crouch; grandson, Mark Carter; grandson, Lee Bucknor; granddaughter, Luna Morales; grandson, James Bucknor; sister, Donna Pressley; brother, David Diercks; and sister, Charlotte Smith and husband, Ken.
The funeral service will be held in the chapel at Waldo Funeral Home, 619 N. Travis St., Sherman, Texas at 2pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Rev. Brian Taylor will officiate. Following the service will be a procession to her final resting place in the Garden of Serenity at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Pkwy, Sherman, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be gifted to DAV, the non-profit supporting Disabled American Veteran, at dav.org.
