On Saturday, August 8, 2026, Carolyn M. Gordon of Colbert, Oklahoma with her beloved daughter Dawn by her side, transitioned to her eternal home in heaven.

Carolyn was born on December 18, 1945 in Colbert, Oklahoma to Louis Taylor Jr. and Eunice Huitt. Carolyn attended Colbert public schools, graduating from Colbert Separate High School in 1964. After graduation, Carolyn continued her education at Grayson County College in Denison, Texas. She had a passion for caring for people which lead her to pursue a career in nursing.

During her time at Grayson College, Carolyn met the love of her life, William C. “Bill” Gordon. Bill was stationed at Perrin Airforce Base also located in Denison. Carolyn and Bill married in 1969 and remained together until Bill’s passing in 2023. They were happily married for 53 years.

Carolyn began her nursing career at Wilson N. Jones hospital in Sherman, Texas. She later moved to Texoma Medical Center where she remained until her retirement in 2006.

Carolyn was a Christian who loved the Lord. She started her Christian walk at Center Union Baptist Church in Colbert. Later the Gordon family moved their affiliation to Greater Coffey Memorial Church of God in Christ. Carolyn faithfully served in the YPWW and the Mother’s Board.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother Eunice Huitt, sister Barbara Bess-Carter and her beloved husband of 53 years, William C. Gordon.

Carolyn leaves to carry on her legacy of love and service two sons; Brittney (Amanda) and Elvin, two daughters: Dawn (Eric) Hunt, Monet (Doug) Wheeler and daughter in love Veronica Brownlow.

Carolyn was affectionately known as “Memaw” to her grandchildren Christian, Kobe, Jaydan, Ethan, Bentley and Brylan. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service for Carolyn will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Trinity Lighthouse Church in Denison, Texas. Rev. Raymond England is the Host Pastor. The Reverend Dr. Michael Braxton will officiate the service. Elder Mario Wells will be the Eulogist. Interment will follow at Sandy Cemetery in Cartwright, Oklahoma. Family and friends will gather to visit from 2-7 p.m. Friday, August 14th, 2026, at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas.
