Obituary

Carrole Louise Thompson, age 80, peacefully ascended to her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family, at her residence, on October 27, 2023 after a 4 year debilitating battle with Parkinson's Disease. Carrole was born on January 21, 1943 in Honey Grove, Texas to parents Pate Louis and Thelma Louise Powell. She moved with her family from Honey Grove to Sherman, Texas at the age of 12. Carrole married Marvin (Lou) Thompson on September 19,1959 in Sherman where they had and raised their two children Donna and David.

Carrole was proud to be a full-time homemaker and loving mother. She was a kind, compassionate woman with a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed walking at the Midway Mall for exercise and making many friends with other mall walkers. This was her daily routine for 20 years before Parkinson's took away her ability to drive and continue this daily activity she loved so much.

Carrole, along with her children became faithful members of Central Baptist Church in 1971, which later was renamed Grayson Bible Church. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior on 8/1/1971 and was Baptized on 8/18/1971.

Carrole was blessed with a variety of talents. She was an excellent self-taught seamstress. She sewed clothing not only for herself, but for family and friends. This became a walking advertisement by the ones that wore her home-made clothing. By word of mouth only she was contacted by friends of friends and strangers who wanted her to make clothing for them. Some of her larger accomplishments were bridesmaid dresses in a wedding party and team cheerleading uniforms. When not sewing she was busy cooking and baking up homemade treats and meals for the family. She especially enjoyed making holiday candy, cookies and goodies for the Christmas season. Everyone had their favorite item and she would make sure it was available for the family gathering. Carrole had a green thumb for plants and gardening. She could plant a rock and it would sprout roots. If a plant was near the point of no return, she could bring it back to life. Carrole particularly enjoyed cross stitching which can be found framed and displayed on the walls throughout her home. She also embarked on wood working projects for outdoor and flowerbed adornments. If she saw it she could make it without a pattern or she would make her own pattern. Later, after their children were grown, she enjoyed short weekend trips with her husband, Lou, and long time, special friends, Frank and Dorothy Connor.

Carrole was preceded in death by her parents Pate and Thelma Powell. Step mother Ria Powell. Brothers Jimmy Dan and Wayne Powell.

Carrole is survived by her loving husband Lou Thompson. Daughter, Donna and husband Bryan Ward. Son David Thompson with Susan Rowland. Sisters Judy and husband Alan Bell, Mona Busby, Edna and husband Clay Coppedge. Grandchildren Apryelle and husband Joshua Aguirre, Malachi LeFlore, Kyle Thompson and Keeshia and husband Jonatan Miles.

Serving as pallbearers; Malachi LeFlore, Joshua Aguirre, Kyle Thompson, Steve Thompson, Michael Thompson, Randy Thompson.
