Obituary

Funeral services for Grayson County Sheriff Deputy, Chad Christian Key, age 42, of Howe, TX will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Sherman, TX. Burial will follow at the Burleson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Key, Jerry Lynn Hinton, Brandon Key, Bobby Cline, Kendal Kerzee and Chuck Enders. Honorary pallbearer will be Cody Enders. Pastor Paul Allison and Dr. Mike Lawson will officiate and services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.

Chad passed away on April 20, 2013 in Denison, TX following an accident in the line of duty.

He was born on December 3, 1970 in Sherman, TX the son of Barry and Becci Wright Key. Chad first married Andrea Dollins on April 2, 1993. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2004. Chad later married April Chree Allison on October 16, 2010.

Deputy Key graduated from Sherman High School. He joined the Sheriff's Office in 2009 as a corrections officer. Co-workers say it was his dream to become a Sheriff's deputy. That dream became a reality not long ago. He put himself through night classes at Grayson County College and achieved that goal in June of last year. In August, he was selected from a board and he was promoted to patrol deputy on February 2nd of this year. He had been a patrol deputy for just 77 days. Chad loved being outdoors and fishing, especially with his sons.

Chad is survived by his wife, April Key of Howe, TX, three sons, Lance Key of Denison, TX, Seth and Colt Key of Howe, TX, father, Barry Key and wife Wanda of Denison, TX, mother, Becci Mead and husband Rick of Rouge River, OR, brother, Justin Key of Sherman, TX, sister, Becci Ann Enders of Smithtown, NY, brother, Jerry Lynn Hinton of Van Alstyne, TX, brother, Brandon Key of Ft. Worth, TX and sister, Heather Key of Denton, TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends and co workers.

Chad was preceded by first wife, Andrea Key, brother, Jeremy Key and step father, Jerry Hinton.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church in Sherman on Wednesday, April 24th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
