Charles Carroll Covington, Master Sergeant, USMC retired, passed on to his eternal reward January 2, 2024. Born June 16, 1942, to Merle and Granville Covington, Charles attended Denison High School.  He was known for his prowess on the back of a bull regardless of the pants he was wearing, his skill in the limbo, and his work on the railroad. He married the former Mary Katheryn Kelly and had two children, Charles, and Ann. After his wife passed, Charles married the former Sue Whitley. In 2007, he married the former Dorothy Tapson, and they danced, golfed, and traveled extensively for many happy years.

Whether you knew him as Charles, Chuck, or Charlie, he was always happy to lend a hand, fix anything mechanical, help with a building or remodeling project, or assist cows give birth in the freezing rain at 2 am. He was a skilled wood worker, mechanic, and welder, and generously gave his time and talents to friends and neighbors. Charles was a fixture at local dances and inspired others with his positive attitude.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Doris Dickfoss and Shari Walthers. He is succeeded by his wife Dorothy, brother James Covington and sister Susan Gudgel, children Charles and Ann, grandchildren Christopher, Kaitlyn, and Caroline, stepsons Rodney and Dennis and numerous step grandchildren.
