Christopher Claude Sakowski, 63, of Sherman, Texas, passed away on June 9, 2026, in Sherman. Born on April 6, 1963, in Fort Dix, New Jersey, Christopher lived a life filled with dedication to his family, career, and passions.
Christopher spent his formative years in Sherman, Texas, attending David Crockett Elementary, Crutchfield Elementary, Piner Middle School, and Sherman High School. He furthered his education at Grayson County College in Denison, earning an Associates degree in computer maintenance. His commitment to service began early as he joined the United States Air Force in 1982. During his six years of honorable service, Christopher was stationed in Spain from 1983 to 1987 and later at SAC Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska from 1987 to 1988.
After his military service, Christopher continued to serve his community through various roles. He worked as a dispatcher for the Sherman Police Department and later contributed his skills at Medical Plaza and Trailblazer. His professional journey reflected his dedication to supporting others and making a positive impact.
Christopher was a man of many talents and interests. A passionate model builder and expert craftsman, he poured meticulous care into his creations. Music was another cornerstone of his life; he was a talented guitarist and an avid fan of the band Kiss. He also had a deep appreciation for Godzilla movies and old science fiction films that sparked his imagination. A devoted Chicago Bears fan and lover of peach pie, Christopher’s vibrant personality shone through in all he did.
Faith played an important role in Christopher’s life as a member of the Southern Baptist community. His fun-loving nature, quick wit, and friendly demeanor endeared him to all who knew him. Above all else, he cherished being a loving husband and father.
Christopher is survived by his beloved wife Sharon Sakowski; children Jennifer Steele (Josh), Robert Sakowski (Carol Young), Katie Sakowski, and Mike Sakowski (Cat); grandchildren Nicole Shae, Austin Martin, Alex, Iris, Raph, Isaac, Esias, Gema, Percy, and great-grandchildren Lucas, Elias, and Baby. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Tricia Shelley; brothers-in-law David Shelley, Eric McWhorter and sister-in-law Lynn Sakowski; as well as numerous extended family members and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry R. Sakowski and Betty Sakowski; siblings Mary Sakowski, Belinda Sakowski, and John Sakowski; and brother-in-law Steven Wade McWhorter.
Christopher’s memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness and humor. May those who knew him find comfort in remembering the joy he brought into their lives.
Services to honor Christopher’s life will be starting at 10 AM at Fairview Baptist Church for viewing and service and afterward military honors at his graveside at Cedarlawn Cemetery.
