Obituary

Born in Denison Tx on July 23, 1951. Claudia Jean Holmes entered the world. Born the 8th child of 9 children to Streamy Love and Mary Louise Holmes. She started singing in the choir at Mt. Olive at the age of 6. This began her journey being a Soldier in God's Army at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Claudia known as Jean, was a proud graduate of Denison High School class of 1969 and a member of the Hanson's Headaches Choir.

After graduation, Jean started her career at Johnson & Johnson where she dedicated 32 years. During this time, she married James Lee Edmondson, Jr. And gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Kimberly Yolanda Edmondson during Mother's Day Weekend.

After her career at Johnson & Johnson, Jean earned a Certificate of Completion for Administration Assistant from Grayson County College. She then became a highly sought-after substitute teacher for DISD until her retirement. During this period, she served as the Sunday School Teacher and Children's Ministry Director, was on the Deaconess Board, participated on the Pastor's Aide Committee, and sang in the choir at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Denison, TX.

Jean passed away February 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith in God and forgiveness.

Jean leaves behind a loving husband; Goodson Scruggs, a loving daughter Kimberly Edmondson, a loving sister, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She devoted over 60 years of her life to serving the Lord with her church family at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

A public visitation will be Wednesday, February 12th from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Thursday, February 13th at 11 A.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1131 S. Scullin Ave., Denison.  Rev. Alton Blakely will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Denison.
