Wendel Cleon Almond, 85, of Whitewright, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. A memorial service celebrating Cleon's life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Legacy Bible Church, with family and friends gathering to honor a life deeply loved and well lived.
Born on August 4, 1939, in Dawson, Texas, Cleon was the son of Charlie and Ona Ruth Almond. He attended Crozier Tech High School and spent the greater part of his adult life in Whitewright, Texas, where he built a life rooted in faith, family, and a tireless work ethic.
Cleon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Almond; his son, Greg Almond and wife Johnna; and his daughter, Diana Wyrick and husband Jimmy. He was a proud grandfather to Riley Wyrick and wife Martha, Hayden Wyrick and wife Katie, Evan Wyrick, Cleo Walters and husband Evan, Carley Larson and husband Cole, and Clay Almond and wife Rylie. Cleon was also blessed with eight cherished great-grandchildren: Sawyer Almond, Caden Wyrick, Heather Wyrick, Reece Wyrick, Ryleigh Wyrick, Jack Larson, John Cooper Larson, and Clancy Almond.
A true entrepreneur and respected business owner, Cleon founded Furniture Marketing Group in 1981. Through his vision and leadership, the company grew to become a trusted name in the industry. He was admired for his honesty, integrity, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Outside of his professional life, Cleon found great joy in the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he treasured time spent in nature, finding peace and reflection in its quiet beauty.
Cleon's life was firmly anchored in his Christian faith. He was a man of strong convictions and a generous heart, always ready to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement. His legacy of love, integrity, and steadfast faith will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Cleon's memory.
