Obituary

Clifton Ray Hayes, born July 10, 1956, in Denison, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2026, in Sherman, Texas. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that he now rests in the presence of his Savior.

Clifton was the beloved son of Kenneth and Dorothy (Helms) Hayes, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind his devoted wife 37 years, Marilyn (Rhea) Hayes, who walked faithfully beside him through every season of life. He is also survived by his daughters, Glenda Thomison (husband Keith) and Kathy Hodges (husband Jeff), who were the joy of his heart.

Clifton was blessed with six grandchildren—Ethan, Brooklynn, Christian, Aaron, Sean, and Kali—each of whom he cherished deeply. He is survived by his siblings Ricky and Tami, and preceded in death by his siblings David and Tanya.

Clifton lived with a joyful spirit. He loved Westerns and music, but more than anything, he loved people. His vibrant smile and infectious laugh brightened every room he entered. Clifton never met a stranger; he carried a natural gift for making others feel welcomed, living out a faith that was warm and genuine.

A memorial service celebrating his life and his homegoing will be held on
Saturday, February 21st at 2:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 5700 Texoma Parkway ,  Sherman, TX 75090, officiated by Lt. Donna Shea.

As we grieve, we do so with hope, resting in the promise of Scripture: " Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.  " - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14(NIV)
