IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clois Carroll
"Buddy" Wade
April 18, 1940 – December 26, 2025
Clois Carroll (C.C.) "Buddy" Wade, a devoted public servant, proud Mason, and lifelong Texas Longhorn fan, passed away on December 26, 2025, in Sherman, Texas, at the age of 85. He was born on April 18, 1940, in Denver City, Texas.
A Life of Service
Buddy's commitment to serving others began early. He attended Wayland Baptist University and Hardin–Simmons University in Abilene, building the foundation for a life guided by faith, discipline, and community. He answered the call to his country, serving in the United States Army from 1961 to 1965 with the First Battalion, 75th Artillery, where he worked as a computer operator.
Following his military service, Buddy joined the Texas Highway Patrol in 1966. Over nearly three decades—until his retirement in 1994—he protected the people of Texas with courage and steadiness, earning the respect of colleagues and neighbors alike. His dedication to public safety continued as he served Grayson County as constable from 1995 to 2010, exemplifying fairness, accountability, and a servant's heart.
A Brother of the Craft
Brother Wade was a Mason for 56 years and a 32° Scottish Rite Mason. He led with quiet strength and tradition, serving as Worshipful Master of Travis Lodge No. 117 from 2000 to 2001. The fraternity and its values of brotherly love, relief, and truth were central to his life and relationships.
Family Roots and Legacy
Buddy was the son of James Sydney Wade (deceased March 25, 1995) and Edna Marie Blair Wade (deceased May 27, 1994), and he was preceded in death by his brother, James Marlin Wade. He is survived by his sons, Michael Bradley Wade and James Brent Wade (and wife Angelique Wade). Known as "Granbud" to his grandchildren, Taylor Wade and Corey Henry (and wife Rebecca Henry). Buddy is also survived by his sister, Margaret Malone.
The Man We'll Remember
Those who knew Buddy will remember his steady presence, quick wit, and unwavering loyalty—to his family, his community, and his beloved Longhorns. He lived by the values he served: integrity, duty, and love of home. His legacy endures in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the communities he protected.
