Obituary

Funeral services for Clyde Udell Marr, age 80, of Sherman, TX will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Bruce Cushman will officiate and burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, TX.

Clyde Udell Marr passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.

Clyde was born on December 17, 1931 in Gunter, TX to Clyde Lewis and Jessie Taylor Marr. As a young boy he and his family moved to Sherman where he attended Sherman Schools. Clyde was an avid sports fan. Among his many talents he was a coach for Little League Baseball, a Football Referee for many years and he was also an accomplished poker player, which he enjoyed playing with his friends and family.

Clyde was proud to wear the #33 jersey for the Sherman Bearcats where he played full back for the class of 1949. He was also a Boxer in the Golden Gloves for several years. Clyde was known to "pack a punch as powerful as a stick of dynamite". He was fondly called by his middle name Udell by his friends.

Clyde married Betty Roberts, his High School Sweetheart on July 3, 1949 in Denison, TX. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

He was a self employed Entrepreneur owning several Service Stations in Sherman and later he and his wife operated a small package delivery service.

Clyde was a member of the Noon Optimist Club.

He is survived by his wife Betty Marr of Sherman, TX, son, Larry Marr and wife Brenda of Sherman, TX, daughter, Melody Harris and husband Tim of Sherman, TX, two grandchildren, Gina Marr of California and Colin Harris of Sherman, TX, two brothers, Nevin Marr of Medina, TX and Don Marr of Sherman, TX and one sister, Letha Saltzman and husband Lewis of Sherman, TX. Clyde is also survived by five nephew, Gary Martin, Steve Melton, Nevin Marr, John Neal and Gene Curtis, three nieces, Opal Forsyth, Marcy Willits and Teri Marr, special friends, Orland Hyatt, David Hyatt, Line Dancers Sherman and Denison and Snap Center.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Nelda Marr and Johnnie Jeter and one brother, J.W. Marr.

Family night will be held on Monday, August 13th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.
