Cora D. Northington-Zeno age 73, formerly of Denison, ascended to her eternal home Sunday, August 20th at her sister's residence in Celina, Texas.
Cora Dee Blacknell was born to Eddie Dorsey Blacknell and Mable Louise Keyes Blacknell in Denison Texas on May 21,1950. They resided at 1119 W Johnson St in Denison Texas, before moving to Wichita Falls with her late mother.
Cora graduated from Booker T Washington High School in 1968. After graduation she started college at Prairie View A&M and attended until she married her late husband Joe D. Northington and started her Life as a military wife in 1970.
During her life's journey as a military spouse her life was full of adventures. She traveled the world and started a family. Starting a career holding several titles and during this time she received a calling into the ministry started in 1985. She continued her career with the Internal Revenue Service where she retired after 30 years in 2012.
Meeting her in heaven is her late husband Alfred Zeno, two loving daughters JoDeanna and Tonya Northington and her granddaughter Jasmine Moore along with her brother Eddie Blacknell jr. and two sisters Connie Rhodes and Joyce Beasley. Left with cherished memories are: her brother Walter Blacknell (Molly), sister Sonja Jett (Michael) and great grandson Christian Moore.
Evangelist Cora Northington Worked with churches from Wichita Falls to San Antonio Texas throughout her adult life. When she moved back in the Houston area, she ministered at several churches and during this time she also received her Doctorate in Theology in 2016 at H.E. Wood Bible Institute. She settled in at Galilee Baptist church after marrying her late spouse Paster Alfred E Zeno in 2017.
A public visitation will be Friday, August 25th from 1 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
The funeral service will be Saturday August 26th at 2:30 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 530 W. Walker St., Denison with Rev. James Wilson, pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Denison.
