Obituary

Coreda Maye Black, affectionately known as Grandma, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, in her home at the age of 86. Born on May 25, 1938, in Oklahoma, the daughter of Clarence Elmore Meneley and Ruby Ann Melton Meneley. She lived in Tyler, Texas for many years and moved to Howe, Texas for her later years, where she created a warm and loving home.


Coreda was a devoted wife to Thomas Black and a proud mother to her sons, Tommy and Timothy. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.


Coreda is preceded in death by her husband Thomas black, two sons Tommy black, and Timothy Black and siblings Gertrude Meneley, Albert Meneley, Theodore Meneley, Tillman Meneley, J.D. Meneley and Wendell Meneley.


She is survived by her granddaughter, April Harbour, grandson, Josh Black, great-granddaughter, Cadence Harbour, and great grandson, Ashton Harbour and Tristan McNeil, who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.


An avid bingo player and skilled crocheter, Coreda also enjoyed cooking and had a passion for reading. She was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and had a special love for Elvis Presley, whose music brought her much joy. In her leisure time, Coreda found delight in watching her favorite TV shows, including NCIS, and Antique Roadshow.


Coreda had a knack for storytelling and loved to travel, gathering countless adventures along the way. She lived by the motto, "Don't ever say you're bored," and inspired those around her to embrace life fully. Among her proudest accomplishments were building three homes for her family, a testament to her dedication and love.


Coreda will be remembered not only for her vibrant spirit and zest for life but also for the deep connections she fostered with her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be cherished.
