IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Craig Matthew
Sturm
January 8, 1971 – July 15, 2024
Craig Matthew Sturm was born in Port Lavaca, Texas on January 8, 1971, to Dianna Pfeifer Sturm and William Sturm. Growing up, Craig was an incredible musician- singing, playing piano, percussion and composing music. As a teen, Craig earned the Eagle Scout Award in Boy Scouts. As a lifelong Lutheran, Craig felt called to become a pastor and share his faith.
Craig graduated from Texas Lutheran University in 1993. While there, Craig continued to cultivate those hallmarks of his life- music, faith, and helping others. He participated in the TLU band and was active in the campus ministry programs at the college. There, he met the love of his life, Kerri.
Craig and Kerri were married on July 9, 1994, in Austin, Texas. Their life together was filled with love, laughter, music and adventure. In January 2006, their family was completed with the arrival of their daughter Emma Grace. Craig took so much pride in his family.
In June of 1998, Craig was ordained as a Lutheran Minister. His calls included Our Savior Lutheran Church in Three Rivers, Texas and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sherman, Texas. Craig's gifts to the church included powerful preaching, well crafted worship services, music, humor, and a strong sense of faith, as well as being a gifted teacher of the Bible.
In his spare time, Craig enjoyed spending time with his family, watching movies, seeing Broadway musicals, and traveling.
Craig is preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Martha Pfeifer and Hugo and Lottie Sturm.
Craig is survived by his wife, Kerri and his daughter Emma, his parents, William and Dianna Sturm, and his sister, Karen Sturm.
Memorial gifts may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church's music fund or The Market Depot, food pantry in Sherman, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please bring a canned good for the Market Depot.
