Dan Harris

Luella- Funeral services for Dan Steven Harris will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday January 7 at Waldo Funeral Home. Dr. Jerry Creek and Brother Harvey Patterson will officiate. Burial will follow at Whitemound Cemetery. Mr. Harris, 76, passed away Saturday, January 4 in Luella, TX.

Dan was born on September 11, 1937 in Tom Bean to Fielder Harris and Jewel (Williams) Harris. Dan was a graduate of Tom Bean High School and received his A.S. Degree from Grayson County College. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964. While working at the Herald Democrat, Dan met Bula Smith and they were married on July 8, 1961 in Sherman. Mr. Harris later worked at Lewie and Lavender Wholesale and was also a self-employed master electrician for over 30 years. Dan was an active member at the First Baptist Church of Luella for 47 years. He also served on the Tom Bean School Board for eleven years.

Dan is survived by his wife, Bula Harris; daughter, Lisa Elizabeth Brown and husband Ben of Edmond, OK; son, Steven Scott Harris and wife Cathy of Luella; brother, Jerry Harris and wife Betty of Tom Bean; sister, Brenda Scales and husband Wally of Greenville; grandchildren, Katie, Mary, and Anna Brown and Pacen, Jackson, and Delaney Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Jack Harris, Alan Harris, and Phillip Harris.

Mr. Harris will lie in state for viewing from 4:00 pm-to 6:00 pm Monday January 6, 2014 at Waldo Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 pm at Waldo Funeral Home.
