Daniel Wayne Parker

With deep love and reverence, we celebrate the life of a devoted servant of God, a dedicated public servant, and a proud father and grandfather, Daniel Wayne Parker.

Daniel Wayne Parker was born on September 5, 1940, and peacefully entered eternal rest on April 2, 2026.

He was born in Caddo Mills, Texas to Dewey and Pauline Parker of Sherman, Texas. Dan grew up in Sherman alongside his two sisters, Geneva Miller and Joyce Williams. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1958, where he served as Captain of the high school football team. He went on to attend Austin College, graduating in 1962. Between his time at Austin College and Texas Tech University, Dan honorably served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He later earned his master’s degree in accounting from Texas Tech University in 1968.

Dan was a man of faith, and unwavering commitment to others. His life was guided by Christian values, and he carried himself with kindness, humility, and a strong sense of purpose. He found strength in his faith and trusted in God’s plan through every season of life. He was an active and beloved member of Valley Creek Church in Gainesville, Texas, where he was deeply cherished by his church family.

He devoted 53 years of his life to municipal government, serving his communities with honor and diligence as a Certified Public Accountant. Throughout his distinguished career, Dan worked as an accountant for Phillips 66, Haliburton and was on staff at Oklahoma State University. He served the cities of Sherman, Richardson, and Gainesville, Texas. He held the role of Finance Director in both Richardson and Gainesville and shared his expertise by teaching non-profit government accounting at the University of Texas at Dallas during the 1980s and early 1990s. He also served as a board member for the Government Finance Officers of America in the 1980s. He was widely respected by colleagues and admired for his steady character and dedication.

Above all, Dan was a proud and loving father and grandfather. His family was his greatest joy and most cherished blessing. He instilled wisdom, compassion, and faith in his children, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to guide and inspire them. His love was constant, his support unwavering, and his presence a source of comfort and strength.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Janna Parker of Lindsay, Texas; his daughter, Priscilla Spencer and her husband Paul; his sons, Scott Parker and Ross Parker and his wife Beth; his step-sons, Judd Jones and his wife Maddie, and Jack Jones and his wife Dustie; his grandchildren, Amanda Spencer, Parker Spencer and his wife Leticia, and Jonathan Parker; his step-grandchildren, Karli Kemp and her husband Zane, Marshall Jones and his wife Harley, Honor Jones and Andy Allen, and Justice Jones; and step great-grandchildren, Della, Lawson and Waylon.

A private graveside service will be held at D.F.W. National Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Texas. The online register book can be signed at waldofuneralhome.com.

The family extends a special thank you to the loving staff at Traditions Senior Living and Memory Care and Hospice Plus for the compassionate care and support they provided during his final days.

Though he is no longer with us in body, we take comfort knowing that he now rests in the arms of the Lord. As it is written in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and eternally loved. May his soul rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
