Obituary

Funeral services for Danny Kent Cox, 66, of Howe will be held 10 am Thursday, September 2, at First Baptist Church of Howe, Tx. Rev. Roger Tidwell of the Church will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Collinsville.
He died Friday, August 27, in Denison.


The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, September 1, at Waldo Funeral Home.


Danny was born in Sherman, on April 29, 1955, the son of Wendell and Evelyn (Matlock) Cox. He was a graduate of Sherman High School, Grayson County College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University.He married Terri Wagnon on August 4, 1978 at Parkside Baptist Church in Denison.


He was a tool designer at Fisher Controls, retiring after 28 years of service. Most recently, he was working at Collin County Community College.
Danny's hobbies included fishing, golf and playing the Banjo. He was the banjo player for the High Standard Bluegrass Band. The band performed at Turkey Track, The Grand Ole Opry and numerous other Bluegrass festivals. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Howe.


He is survived by his wife, Terri; Mother, Evelyn Cox of Sherman; sons, Matthew Cox of Howe; Brandon Cox and his wife, Brittany of Melissa; sisters, Sharon White and husband, Steve of Whitewright; Paula Jonse and husband, Steve of Sherman; grandchildren, Jade Cox, Rian Cox, both of Howe, Riley Cox, Sean Cox and Declan Cox, all of Melissa; Mother in Law, Theresa Wagnon of Denison; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his father, Wendell Cox.


Pallbearers will be Rick Schulenberg, Mike Ward, Rick Baze, Rick McNarrin, and Kevin Wagnon and Mike Wagnon.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home, 619 N Travis, Sherman, Texas.
