David Lee "Pip" Pippin, 79 years old, of Sherman, Tx, passed from this life June 5, 2023.

He was born in McKinney, Texas, to Johnny Wilber Pippin and Inez (Trout) Pippin on August 30, 1943. He was a graduate of Garland High School. He attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Tx.

David was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served his country from 1965 through 1968.

On April 15, 1980, he married Karen Lee Herrington in Rockwall, Tx. David worked in Central Office Installation at GTE for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karie Hambrick; a son, Daniel Bankston; and two brothers, Charles L. Pippin and Jerry G. Pippin.

David is survived by his wife, Karen Pippin of Sherman, Tx; Daughter, Karla King, her husband Brian King of Grand Prairie, Tx, their children, granddaughters, Kaitlynd Spruce and Kamryn Spruce, both of Grand Prairie; Daughter, Alisha Steinmetz of Sherman, Tx, her children, grandson, Christopher M. Steinmetz of Porterville, Ca, granddaughter, Sondra Jane Steinmetz of Sherman, Tx,  grandson, Tyler Hambrick of Bonham, Tx, grandson, Jace Hambrick of Denison, Tx; and a brother, John Wayne Pippin of Waco, Tx; Nephew, Adam Seibert and wife Alice, great nephew, Gabriel Seibert, niece, Andrea Vance and husband Scott and great nephews Isaiah and Dalton Vance.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 8, at Waldo Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 9, in the Chapel of Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Phillip Elston will officiate.

Interment with military honors will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
