IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Charles
Tilley
July 5, 1962 – November 26, 2024
David Charles Tilley, of Sherman passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024. He was Born on July 5, 1962 to Charles and Mildred Tilley of Plano, David lived a life of service, generosity, honor, and kindness.
David was born and raised in Plano, Texas and was a true Plano Wildcat through and through. After college he made his way back to the city he loved and took over his family's beloved store, TilleyVision. As family-owned TV businesses began to fade away, he found his purpose with the police department in Plano.
David joined the Plano Police Department in 1996 and loved each moment of his 24-year career. As officers do, David started out in Patrol and, in 2011 was selected as the Department's Public Information Officer, where he stayed until his retirement in 2022. David found his enjoyment in serving the citizens of Plano and was proud of establishing the social media presence the community uses today.
David is survived by his adoring wife, Whitney, who he shared a love like no other with, and five sons whom he loved dearly: Taylor Tilley and wife Stefanie of Santa Rosa, California, Cody Tilley and wife Melissa of La Junta, Colorado, Colton Tilley of McKinney, Texas, Jackson Murphy of Fort Worth, Texas, and Greyson Murphy of Sherman. David is tremendously loved by his 5 boys and 4 grandchildren, whom he adored, and their lives will be forever impacted by the imprint he has left upon them. He is also survived by his father Charles Tilley and wife Carole of Princeton, Texas, Sonia Boles of McKinney, Texas, Rhonda Ripple and husband Curtis of Wylie, Texas. He is reunited in death with his mother, "Mickey" Tilley and niece Jennifer Story.
There are no words to describe what David means to his family, friends, and colleagues at the Plano Police Department. David's death has left a void that will never be filled.
