Diana Esther Chapman was born Monday, April 2, 1945 in El Paso, Texas to Jay Lowe and Marjorie (Bodeman) Chapman. She departed this life on Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Plano, Texas at the age of 71.
Diana was raised in Sherman, TX, and graduated from Sherman High School in 1962. She married Kenneth Ted Thomas on September 7, 1962 in Sherman. As an Air Force wife she worked diligently to raise their three children Shelly, Kerianne, and Ron. Diana served as a Church Secretary for fifteen years at Waterview Church of Christ in Richardson. She earned her degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas on May 21, 1994 and then worked as a technical writer for various companies. Diana and Ken are members of the Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland.
Diana's volunteer activities included teaching Sunday School, and working with the Blue Birds and Brownies organizations. She enjoyed reading, crochet, bird watching, gardening, and macrame. Diana enjoyed and loved her dog Daisy.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Jon Ruescher, and granddaughter Kaitlyn Roper.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Ken of Sachse, TX; daughter, Shelly Heidelbaugh and husband Todd, with children Camille and Alex Heidelbaugh of Plano, TX; daughter, Kerianne Roper and husband Randy, with son Riley Roper of Edmond, OK; son, Ron Thomas and wife Susan, with children Emma and Jack Thomas of Sachse, TX; sisters, Betty Reuscher of Wylie, TX, Sarah Robison and husband David of Redmond, WA, and Marianne Blevins and husband Larry of Sherman, TX.
Memorial services to celebrate Diana's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Saturn Road Church of Christ auditorium located at 3030 Saturn Road in Garland, Texas.
