Obituary

Memorial Services for Diane Yeary, age 80, of Gunter, Texas will be held At West Sherman Baptist Church, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 am, under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.

Diane passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Sherman, Texas. She was born November 10, 1943, in Marysville, Ohio. Diane is the daughter of Herbert Clayton Eades and Betty Jane Smith Eades.

Diane was a farmer's daughter who showed steers and enjoyed helping on the farm. She loved horses and horseback riding with her friends. She was a Drum Majorette at Madison High School in London, Ohio, and twirled the baton. She started her college career at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio where she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and enjoyed her sorority during her time there. Diane was a natural beauty, and participated in Beauty pageants, and modeled wedding dresses. Her picture was in the local paper numerous times for different accomplishments. She won a beauty pageant, and had a portrait painted on silk.

She married the love of her life at 20 years old, James Yeary, on August 25, 1962, in London, Ohio. They moved to Angola, Indiana where James attended Tri State University. After Jim's graduation they moved to Florida, where Diane was a homemaker, and attended the Lutheran Church, their son Christopher David Yeary was born in 1967 in Florida. Diane and Jim moved to Texas in 1969.

She was known for her wonderful pies, and Holiday meals, flower arrangements, sewing, and decorating her home. Diane was a homemaker and attended the Lutheran Church and taught Preschool there. She raised her children in a Christian home. She became a wonderful leader in the Campfire Girls club, and challenged all the girls with camping trips, yearly horseback riding days, and field trips, keeping them all very busy! The couple moved to Gunter, Texas in 1977 where she eventually went back to college and finished her BSN, Masters, and Nurse Practitioner School. She was recognized by the college Dean's list and other honors. She began as a school nurse, visiting nurse, and Director of Nursing at Children's Hospital at Dallas. After Nurse Practitioner School she began a rewarding career with Texoma Gastroenterology. She retired in 2010. She was known for her positive attitude, helpful advice, and willingness to answer medical questions at any hour. She then went on to help with raising her Great Granddaughter Kira.

Diane is preceded in death by her husband James.

She is survived by her daughter Catherine, her son Christopher, her granddaughters Michelle and Zoey, and her great granddaughter Kira.
