Obituary

Dion Wayne Voigt passed away on June 14, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on July 22, 1959, in Hominy, Oklahoma, Dion spent most of his life in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before recently making his home in Sherman, Texas.

Dion proudly served his country in the United States Army for eight years and was stationed at Fort Bliss. Among his fondest memories of military service was performing as a tuba player in the Army marching band, an experience he spoke of with great pride throughout his life.

Following his military service, Dion earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso. Although he achieved this educational milestone, much of his professional life was spent in food service and tax preparation. He took great pride in his work and was especially known for his extensive knowledge of taxes, often helping others navigate even the most complicated tax situations.

Dion enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved watching movies, playing games, drinking root beer, and spending time in the kitchen preparing meals for others. Cooking was one of the many ways he showed his care for family and friends. Above all else, however, he cherished his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, Olivia and Soren. Whether it was a school event, performance, competition, or special occasion, Dion made every effort to be there, supporting and encouraging them every step of the way.

Those who knew Dion will remember his dry sense of humor and quick wit. While he often delivered humor with a straight face, there were moments when something struck him as especially funny. In those moments, his smile would light up the room, and his laughter was truly infectious.

Dion was preceded in death by his mother, Dana Voigt, who passed away in 2012, and his father, Terry Voigt, who passed away in 2021.

He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Crist, and son-in-law, Michael Crist, with whom he shared a close and lasting bond; his beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Soren; his sister, Debbie; his brother, Barry; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Dion's legacy is one of service, dedication, humor, generosity, and love for family. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the joy he brought to those who knew him, the meals he shared, and the unwavering support he gave to the people he loved most.
