IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Don Thomas
Hix Iii
March 19, 1986 – October 10, 2024
A celebration of life for Donnie Hix, age 38, of Bells, Texas will be held on Wednesday, October 16th at 6 PM at Grayson County Speedway.
Donnie peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, October 10, 2024. He was born March 19, 1986, the son of Don Thomas Hix Jr. and Debra Lea Doggett. Don married the love of his life, Kelli Grudza Hix on March 23, 2019 at Gordonville Church of Christ.
Donnie is preceded in death by his grandparents, Nina Doggett, Buddy Doggett, Flo Hix, Don Hix Sr., a cousin, Jerry Don Montgomery and aunt Donna Montgomery.
Donnie is survived by his loving wife, Kelli Hix, and children, Baylee and Easton. His beloved dog Ollie. Parents Tommy and Debra Hix. Siblings Jessica Garza, Timmy Hix, and Jay Wells. Niece Faye and Nephews Paxton and Parker. Aunts and uncles Cheryl & Hal Hargis and Eddie & Shannon Doggett. And many cousins and loved ones including friends that were family.
No one could decide whether he loved fishing or racing more. Yet, above all, his greatest treasures were his faith and family, whom he cherished more than anything else. He poured love into every moment spent with them, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His many friends from the local community and his beloved racetrack family also held a special place in his heart.
Among all his cherished relationships, his dog Ollie was his constant companion, always by his side to share sweet snacks and cuddles. We will remember him most fondly for his infectious humor, hearty laughter, goofy smile, and warm, almost hurtful bear hugs that made everyone feel at home.
He dedicated countless hours in his shop, where his knowledge of racecars and creativity with metalwork flourished, but his true light shone brightest when coaching little league sports. He inspired young athletes with his encouragement and passion, leaving an unforgettable mark on their hearts.
And let us not forget his quirky fondness for Dollar General baskets that he would load up with Monster and white zero-sugar Gatorade. These simple pleasures brought him joy and were a testament to his vibrant spirit.
As we gather to celebrate his life, we carry with us the warmth of his presence, the joy he brought into our lives, and the love that will forever linger in our hearts.
The Celebration of Life will be live streamed through Facebook. "Donnie Hix #11 The Final Lap"
