Obituary

Donald John Jenkins

February 8, 1939 – July 13, 2026

Donald John Jenkins, age 87, of Sherman, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Donald was born on February 8, 1939, and lived a life defined by devotion to God, family, hard work, kindness, and an unwavering love for those closest to him. More than any title he held, Donald treasured being a loving husband, a proud father, and a devoted "Pappy."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jason and Elva Jenkins, and his brother, Daryl Jenkins.

Donald shared a remarkable love story with his beloved wife, Mary Jenkins, whom he married in Denison, Texas on May 2, 1964. Together they built a life filled with faith, laughter, and cherished memories over 62 years of marriage. Their enduring partnership served as an example of commitment and unconditional love to all who knew them.

Among Donald's greatest joys was spending time with his family. He loved being a father to his daughter, Angie Wilson, and found immense pride and happiness in being "Pappy" to his grandchildren, Lexi and Lake. His heart grew even fuller with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Holland and Hudson, who brought him endless smiles and joy.

Donald never needed grand hobbies or recognition. His favorite pastime was simply being with his family—attending milestones, sharing stories, offering guidance, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations. His warmth, gentle spirit, and sense of humor made him the steady foundation of his family.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Jenkins; his daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Rob Wilson; his grandchildren, Lexi and Hunter Heinrich; Lake and Taite Wilson; his great-grandchildren, Holland Heinrich and Hudson Heinrich; and many extended family members and friends who will greatly miss his presence.

Though Donald's earthly journey has come to an end, the love he shared and the legacy he built through his family will live on forever. He will be remembered as a devoted Christian and husband, loving father, proud Pappy, and faithful friend whose life was measured not by years, but by the countless lives he touched.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Denison, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate his life, honor his memory, and share in the legacy of love he leaves behind.

"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and forever dear."
