Donald Wayne Wortman, 77 years old, of Whitewright, TX, passed away December 20, 2025, in Denison.
Don was born on June 4, 1948, in Hope, Arkansas. He was the son of James Edward and Betty Jo (Cox) Wortman.
Don's passions were his work, horses, learning, and working on his ranch.
He was a brilliant Electronic Engineer, specializing in the telecom industry, with over 20 patents held personally and several more held jointly. He had a great thirst for knowledge, and after retirement, kept up to date with the latest electronic materials, computing advances, and astronomy discoveries. Don enjoyed sharing his knowledge with patience and encouragement.
He was an advocate not only for women's rights but all human rights.
Horses were a huge part of Don's life. He loved to talk about his first horse and his first time as a jockey. He continued to ride until he was physically unable to do so. He owned five horses at the time of his death.
Don also loved nature and farming, constantly planting trees, berries, grapes, among numerous other plants, as well as donating to several conservation organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Betty Jo Wortman.
Surviving are his loving partner of 33 years, Jeanette Fiveash, his children, Angela Langford, Tracy Baker, Marshal Wortman, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his sister, Sheila Kale, and his brother, Tim Wortman.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, January 30, 2026, at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, January 30, 2026, in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.
