Obituary

Donn Paul Van Deren, 78, of Sherman, Texas, passed away on January 2, 2024. He was born on September 18, 1945, in Westminister, Texas, in his ancestral home. Donn Paul was a kind, generous, funny, hard-working, athletic, creative, loving, and proud individual.

Donn Paul is survived by his beloved wife Katie, their children Donn II, David, and Tamala, his grandchildren Christopher, Danielle, Joshua, and Bethany, and his great-grandchildren Amory, Azryel, and Bentley. He is also survived by his siblings Lynette, Wendell, and Galen. Donn Paul was preceded in death by his dad Weldon, mom Wilma, and siblings Paula Louise, Peggy, Kenneth, and Gene Keith.

Donn Paul received his education at Westminister Primary School and Buffalo High School in Missouri. He furthered his education at Grayson County College, Missouri State University, and served in the Navy for 2 years, 2 months, and 2 days.

Throughout his career, Donn Paul worked as a carpenter, building colleges and homes. He also served as a laboratory technician and medic at Litton Industries, Consolidated Freightways, the US Postal Service, and Frisco & Burlington Northern Railroad.

Donn Paul had a passion for building things, ranching, farming, gardening, painting, and mowing lawns. He found joy in these hobbies and dedicated his time to them.

Donn Paul worshipped at the Baptist church.

There will be no services held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Association of the Deaf (NAD).

Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
